Tess Knighton was awarded a research professorship by the
Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA) in
Barcelona; she left Cambridge, to take up this position in May 2011. Tess is the first musicologist to be awarded a professorship by
this Catalan government-funded research institute, and she is now based at the
Institució Milà i Fontanals where she
researches music in the urban context of 16th-century Barcelona.
