María Noriega-Sánchez teaches Spanish language and translation. Her interests lie
in the fields of language learning and teaching, comparative literature and literary translation. Her
publications include articles on language pedagogy, Latin American and US studies, and the book
Challenging Realities: Magic Realism in Contemporary American Women's Fiction (Universitat de
València, 2002). Current research interests focus on curriculum design and use of new technologies
in the development of language learning material, independent study and learner's autonomy, as well
as contemporary narrative in Spanish. She is the co-author of several Open University Spanish
language coursebooks and interactive DVD-ROMs and has worked as a consultant author for the 'Spanish
At Your Fingertips' project, an on-line language programme developed by the University of Cambridge
Language Centre in partnership with BBC Worldwide.
