Staff-Student Liaison

MML Faculty Staff-Student Liaison Committee

Communications and relations between staff and students are very good in the Department of Slavonic Studies, a fact recognised by the recent HEFCE teaching assessment. Within the Department, there are regular opportunities to consult members of staff on all matters relating to Slavonic Tripos and the course of study in general.

The Head of Department, Dr Emma Widdis, is happy to discuss any concerns you may have at any time and students are welcome to email her on ekw1000@cam.ac.uk.

The Department holds a number opf meetings for students throughout the year including receptions for Freshers and meetings to explain Slavonic Year Abroad options and to present Part IB and Part II scheduled papers during the last week of Lent Term.

The Department welcomes feedback at any time. At the end of each term students are asked to fill in the online questionnaires reflecting on the term's work. Notifications of these are sent by email. Students are strongly encouraged to particiapte. The responses are discussed by the Head of Department and teaching staff.

At Faculty level a Staff-Student Liaison Committee aims to ensure that good communications are maintained. Additionally, student members of the Faculty Board convene meetings of the colleges' student representatives to consult them on matters of concern, take up suggestions made by college reps, etc.
