Translation into Russian and Russian through audio-visual media

There will be two separate examinations for this paper:

• Translation from English into Russian (two hours)
• Listening comprehension test (one hour)

Translation

In the translation section candidates will be required to translate two passages (not more than 400 words in total) into Russian.

Teaching

In your fortnightly translation class, you will practise translating from various styles and registers of English, in order to develop your command of grammar, vocabulary and idiom.

Listening Comprehension

The listening comprehension test consists of a recorded interview, conversation or programme on an everyday topic which is played twice and followed by questions to be answered in Russian.

Teaching

Listening Comprehension classes develop students' ability to understand Russian through the use of audio and video recordings.
