The Beit Library

The Beit Library, on the third floor of the Library, is a German research collection. It was founded by a donation from Sir Otto Beit in 1913, and has an interesting collection of books from that time, complemented by regular buying of current material ever since. It is especially strong on the history of the German language and on literature of the classical period (notably Goethe) and the nineteenth century. It also has philosophy, history, and a major collection of reference works.
