Comparative and borrowed papers in part II

When you are thinking about your options among the scheduled papers for Part II, you should remember that, in addition to the long list of papers proposed and taught by the individual departments within the Faculty, there are two further lists to consider.

You can make your choice from a range of comparative papers, which are devised and taught by groups of lecturers within the MML Faculty. And if your intellectual and spiritual needs are still not still satisfied, you may borrow a paper which is closely related to your programme from another Tripos, thus extending the area and varying the approach in which you can study a particular subject area in which you have become interested. The Triposes in which such papers are available are: Classics, English, Anglo-Saxon, History, Oriental Studies, SPS, Philosophy, and Theology.

The Regulations are complicated and vary from year to year, so please 'visit’ the Faculty Office - in person or via the website - to get up-to-date information; and be sure to get the advice and approval of your college Director of Studies before you take any decisions. (This is especially important if you intend to do some reading during your Year Abroad). But for your convenience, we reproduce the course descriptions of two comparative papers in which lecturers in the Italian Department take a particularly active interest.
