Translation into Italian and a test in Italian through audio visual media
Paper IT B3 is in two parts, taken separately:
Section A
Translation from English into Italian. The examination lasts for two hours. In Section A you will be required to translate two passages of literary or journalistic English of c. 200 words each. In addition to grammatical and syntactical accuracy, the translations will be expected to show a good grasp of Italian idiom, and a sensitivity to register, style, and shades of meaning. Section B
Italian through audio visual media. The examination lasts for 1 hour and 35 minutes; this includes a 5-minute set-up time. In Section B you will be shown a programme broadcast on Italian television and required to answer factual questions and to summarise or paraphrase some of the themes of the broadcast. The examination will test your ability to extract and to reproduce concisely relevant and accurate information from the audio-visual material.You can find more information about the Audio-Visual section of the paper here.
