Modern Greek Section
PhD Studentship in Modern Greek Studies
Thanks to a generous grant from the A.G. Leventis Foundation, the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages invites applications for a three-year postgraduate studentship in Modern Greek Studies, beginning in October 2009. Candidates should have a first class or upper second class degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and should normally have completed, or be completing, a master's degree in order to be accepted for a PhD at Cambridge.
The fields in which applications are invited are Modern Greek (including Cypriot) literature, language and culture. The studentship will cover University fees (at the rate applicable to UK and EU students), College fees, and a maintenance grant for a maximum period of three years. It will be renewed annually subject to satisfactory progress.
Full details of the application procedure can be found on the Faculty website:
/gradstudies/
Applications, which must include a detailed research proposal, should be submitted to the Board of Graduate Studies as soon as possible, and no later than 30 April 2009, for consideration by the Degree Committee of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. Candidates should also arrange for two letters of reference to be sent on their behalf by the same date. At the same time as submitting their application to the Board of Graduate Studies, they should notify Professor David Holton (dwh11@cam.ac.uk) that they wish to be considered for the A. G. Leventis Foundation Studentship.
Prospective candidates for the Leventis Studentship may contact Professor David Holton for
advice on research topics for which supervision is available. For further information on research and
