Simone Kügeler specialises in medieval German literature and language, with particular research interests in Frauenmystik, Minnesang and Höfischer Roman. Currently, she is completing her doctoral thesis Frauenmystik im europäischen Kontext, a comparative study of English and German female mysticism focusing on the narrator and narrative strategies in The Book of Margery Kempe.
She has taught medieval German literature at Cologne University and German as a foreign language. As a DAAD-Lektorin based at St John’s College, she teaches German language classes and gives supervisions.
She is in receipt of a scholarship from the a.r.t.e.s. Forschungsschule at the University of Cologne and a DAAD research scholarship for investigating medieval manuscripts for her doctoral thesis.
