Cordula Böcking’s teaching and research interests lie primarily in medieval and early modern literature and language. Her research is particularly concerned with aspects of gender and alterity, and she is also interested in myth reception, intercultural transmission of ideas and canon formation. Her book on The Individualization of Fortune in the Narratives of Jörg Wickram was published in 2008 and she has co-edited Sexual-Textual Border-Crossings: Lesbian Identity in German-Language Literature, Film and Culture (2010). Currently she is working on a project examining the link between transgressive femininity and cultural otherness in Middle High German epic and romance, which to date has resulted in several articles on medieval appropriations of the Amazon myth.
