Research Interests:
Annie's PhD (Cambridge, 2012) dealt with the end of state socialism in the writing of Monika Maron and Wolfgang Hilbig. She has published essays on the portrayal of the Stasi in recent German literature, on Kafka and pleasure, and on French women’s writing after May 1968. Her postdoctoral work is concerned with politics, protest and spectatorship in contemporary German and comparative culture.
Teaching Interests:
Annie teaches for the undergraduate papers CS5 (Comparative Studies: The Body) and Ge15 (Modern German Cultures of Performance) and for the postgraduate paper Memory and Subjectivity in the German Novel, part of the MPhil in European Literature and Culture.
