Wendy AYRES-BENNETT

Principal Investigator, Professor of French Philology and Linguistics, Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, University of Cambridge. Wendy Ayres-Bennett has written extensively on the work of Vaugelas and the remarqueurs, and is responsible for the critical editions of Vaugelas’s Remarques sur la langue françoise (1647) and Nouvelles remarques sur la langue françoise. Ouvrage posthume, avec des observations de M*** (1690)

Marc BONHOMME

Marc Bonhomme is Professor at the University of Berne. Amongst his wide range of research interests he is interested in the standardisation of French in the seventeenth century. He is responsible, with André Horak, for the critical edition of the two volumes of Gilles Ménage’s Observations sur la langue françoise (1675-1676).

Philippe CARON

Philippe Caron is Professeur de langue française at the University of Poitiers. He works on the history of classical French and the development of norms, and has published an authoritative edition of Féraud’s Dictionaire critique de la langue française. He is responsible for the critical edition of the Observations de l'Académie Françoise sur les Remarques de M. de Vaugelas (1704).

Simone DELESALLE

Simone Delesalle is Emerita Professor at the Unversité de Paris 8. She is an expert on the history of school grammars in France and is responsible for the critical edition of the Remarques et décisions de l'Académie françoyse (1698) which were recorded by Paul Tallemant.

Isabelle DUCHARME

Isabelle Ducharme prepared the text of Marguerite Buffet’s Nouvelles Observations sur la langue françoise (1688) for the electronic corpus.

Anne-Marguerite FRYBA-REBER

Anne-Marguerite Fryba-Reber is Associate Professor at the University of Berne. She is an expert on the institutionalisation of linguistics in Switzerland in the period 1880-1950. She was responsible for the second volume of Ménage's Observations in the electronic corpus.

Marcus KELLER

Marcus Keller is Associate Professor at the Unversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He specialises in Early modern French literature and culture (16th and 17th centuries). He is responsible, with Douglas Kibbee, for the critical edition of Scipion Dupleix’s Liberté de la langue françoise dans sa pureté (1651).

Douglas KIBBEE

Douglas Kibbee is Emeritus Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has written widely on the history of French, linguistic legislation and prescriptivism. He is responsible, with Marcus Keller, for the critical edition of Scipion Dupleix’s Liberté de la langue françoise dans sa pureté (1651).

Francine MAZIÈRE

Francine Mazière is Emerita Professor at the University of Paris 13. She is an expert in French lexicography and the production of metalinguistic texts which establish the ‘langue commune’ in seventeenth-century France. She is responsible for the critical edition of Jean Macé’s Méthode universelle pour apprandre facilemant les langues (1651).

Magali SEIJIDO

Magali Seijido was research associate on the AHRC funded project. She wrote her doctoral thesis on Andry de Boisregard and is reponsible for the critical edition of his Réflexions ou remarques critiques sur l’usage présent de la langue françoise (1692) and his Suite des réflexions critiques sur l’usage présent de la langue françoise (1693).

Gilles SIOUFFI

Gilles Siouffi is Professor at Paris IV. He has worked extensively on classical French and is the author of Le Génie de la langue française. Études sur les structures imaginaires de la description linguistique à l’Age classique (2010). He is responsible for the critical editions of Dominique Bouhours’s Remarques nouvelles sur la langue françoise (1692) and Suite des Remarques nouvelles sur la langue françoise (1693).

Barbara VON GEMMINGEN

Barbara von Gemmingen taught at the Heinrich Heine Universität, Düsseldorf. She is an expert in lexicography, especially of the classical period, and is responsible for the critical edition of Louis-Augustin Alemand’s Nouvelles observations ou guerre civile des Français sur la langue (Paris: J.B. Langlois, 1688)

Chantal WIONET

Chantal Wionet works at the University of Avignon. She was responsible, with Claude Blum, for the electronic editions of Richelet’s Dictionnaire françois (1680) and Furetière’s Dictionnaire universel (1690). She is currently preparing the critical edition of François de La Mothe Le Vayer’s Lettres touchant les nouvelles remarques sur la langue française (1669).
