The Department very much welcomes graduate students, both at the level of M.Phil. (Masters) and at the level of Ph.D. (Doctorate). This page gives detailed information about the M.Phil. courses which the Department participates in. Unless you already have a Masters degree, and in some cases even if you have one already, you are advised to apply for an M.Phil in the first instance (a one-year course) before undertaking a Ph.D. The M.Phil. courses form an excellent basis for future doctoral research. Both courses can also be taken alone as a one-year postgraduate qualification.
