Dutch in Part IA

N.B. No students will be admitted for Part IA Dutch after October 2010.

Students take the Part 1A Examination after one year and the Part 1B Examination after two years. Students of Dutch will take the ab initio course Part 1A (option A), unless they have an A-level in Dutch, in which case they will take Part 1A (option B).
Attendance is expected to all Language Classes, for which weekly tasks are assigned and at lectures and supervisions, since these are designed to relate directly to your course of study and examinations. Fortnightly supervisions will be given for Scheduled Papers. Apologies for absence for lectures, classes and supervisions are expected to be conveyed in advance to the Departmental Secretary or to teaching staff.
Supervisions will be arranged in consultation with Colleges and Mrs. Strietman. Normally there will be four supervisions for each Scheduled Paper in the Michaelmas and Lent terms and two in the Easter Term. These will relate to Scheduled Papers, including DUA3, set texts and topics. Set work can consist of an essay on a set question, a critical analysis of or commentary on a specific passage or preparation for a discussion of secondary literature, in preparation for the Examination. In addition to the Set Texts, students will be expected to acquire a knowledge of contemporary issues in Dutch and Flemish culture.
