No project like this can be completed without the help of numerous colleagues at home and abroad, and we would like to express our thanks to all who have helped us along the way. Bettina Bildhauer contributed an enormous amount of skill and enthusiasm to the finished product, helping with transcriptions, subtitling, corrections and classroom testing. Colin Hoffmann and his colleagues at Deutsche Welle Berlin patiently helped over an extended period to secure suitable video footage from their archives. Elena Seymenliyska, Eva Martinez and Rada Radojicic set up the project at Arnold Publishers and kept it going during its long development. The Film Museum München very kindly allowed us to retain in 'Eine Achterbahn in München' footage originally drawn from their archive. Within the University of Cambridge, invaluable administrative support, and, at a few crucial moments, extra financial support, came from the Department of German and the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. Richard Jennings and Adjoa Tamakloe, now of the University's Research Services Division, gave us much-needed help and advice with contractual negotiations. Assistance with tape transfer and copying came from World Video Productions, Histon, Cambridge, and also the University Language Centre, where Dave Hurworth, John Anderson and Rob Ward were always ready to help on a number of technical fronts. Staff and pupils at the Perse School for Girls, Cambridge, also helped with software testing, as did many of our own students in the Department of German. Personal thanks are also due to Silke Mentchen, Anthony Snodgrass, and August-Wilhelm von Schönfeld.
