Biobraphical Note and Research Topic
Claudia Peverini is currently in the first year of her PhD in the Department of Italian at the University of Cambridge, specialising in theoretical syntax and Italian dialectology. She completed an MPhil in Linguistics in 2004 and her thesis offered a systematic descriptive investigation as well as a theoretical interpretation of a phenomenon known as the prepositional accusative in a poorly studied dialect from Central Italy. Her most recent publication is titled "Pro-drop and the Italian subjunctive: An areal investigation" and is included in The Italianist (Volume 24, 2004). Her current research focuses on various types of verb-subject agreement and non-agreement phenomena in Italian dialects, in standard Italian as well as in other Romance varieties. |

Italian text (synopsis):
Mi occupo di studiare la sintassi dei dialetti italiani, in particolare mi sto occupando del mio dialetto, Marchigiano, che e' un dialetto che si trova nel centro Italia. Durante il mio MPhil la mia recerca si e' concentrata su un particolare fenomeno conosciuto come "accusativo preposizionale" e ora mi sto occupando di altri fenomeni sintattici, quindi grammaticali, nel mio dialetto.
